2011 off to a fast start

This is the first week in April and registrations are already coming in! The word about Assembly Park is getting out. Ask any camper and they will tell you, our camps here are first rate and are growing each year. Last year some of our camps were nearing capacity. So what does this mean for you? The days of waiting till the last minute are past. Get your registrations early, to insure that you will not miss camp this year.

Family Camp in 2 weeks!
This will be a great camping season, plan to attend if you can!
We have had 3 rental camps here already and the Nazarene camp will be here next week.
All three camps were large, so we have had a lot of excitement here already.
The real excitement for us will start in July, when Assembly Park is running their camps!
Would you consider sponsoring a child this year? Camp can be a life changing event and many children miss this opportunity because there is no one to encourage or send them to camp.

New this year. Leadership camp --Fri, Sat and Sunday following Sr. High Camp.
This camp will accept 30 campers with a youth leaders recommendation.
Serious discipleship for the next generation of Christian leaders.

Spring projects and improvements

Spring 2010 brings many changes to camp!

the B cabin and snack stand has new siding.
new carpet in chapel.
floors sealed and windows trimmed in kit/dinning hall.
Mountain bike trail completed.
new Frisbee Golf coarse
3 new kayaks
new sound system in chapel.

and many many other improvements! Thank you to all that helped and donated.

Up and running

The camp is ready for work crews or individual helpers! All the water is on and we are starting to bring in materials.
Today we started working on a new bicycle trail. This is an off road trail that can be used for biking or as a nature trail. Jerry cleared brush and built a bridge over a wet spot. Tomorrow we will add another loop an the trail will be ready for use!

I heard that someone is going to donate a Kayak to camp, Praise the Lord!

Spring is here!

Warm weather is helping us get an early start. I removed the snow blower from the camp tractor yesterday and greased and mounted the mower deck. Grinding up all those leaves saves a lot of work! Most of the camp is raked and starting to look good.
Transplanted about 30 trees on Monday, We try to add to the landscaping every year.
This year I brought in some White Birch ( 5' to 8' trees) also some Tamarack, and White spruce.
Ripped up most of the carpet in the stage area of the chapel. Thanks to a donation from the Missionettes Department we will have new carpet next week.

Tomorrow I will start to turn on the water for another season.

Putting together a project list

The snow is melting fast and spring is in the air.
We are going to start ripping up the old carpet on the stage tomorrow.
The 2010 project season has begun.

We have some drywall to repair.
Plenty of painting
Soon we will be working on camp clean up ( raking, tree planting, cleaning, ect)
some wooden bunks to put together and varnish
Plumbing (energize water lines, replace 10 toilets--the new ones are ordered)
Painting in Kitchen
new trim on kitchen and dinning windows
split and stack firewood
trench in power lines to Basket ball court area
trench in water line for drinking fountain
concrete patching in D cabin
Epoxy floors in shower rooms
Set up electric and water feeds to new RV sites
interior remodel in the A cabin
Install new soffet and fascia on B cabin
New vinyl siding on B cabin

We are in need of a licensed electrition to help with some panel work.

A praise report for 2010

Would you believe that in a month we will be getting the camp ready for camping season 2010!

This is a praise report!

Donated from the District Missionetts Department: $2000.00 to go toward new carpet for chapel stage and alter area.----- currently getting bids.
$1200.00 donated to replace toilets in upper shower building. Praise God! The old toilets never flushed well and were a constant headache.
$6400.00 donated by District Youth Department for up grading our sound equipment.
Wally Moss fixed our driveway and added a new layer of gravel.

A wrap up of 2009

I would like to to give an up date on some of last years projects. The work on the cooks cabin was finished and it looks great!

Interior finished except for flooring and exterior is painted and trimmed.

The exterior of the kitchen/dinning is also cleaned up and newly painted and trimmed. Cedar gables were added.

Landscaping is an ongoing process here at camp! Our priority is to provide an environment that is beautiful, well maintained and representative of the natural north woods experience.
This last year we added some native trees that were dug and transplanted from local donations. We also planted 4 flowering crag apples and a few decorative shrubs.
Our growing family of helpers trimmed trees, donated equipment, donated flowers and provided the many hours of labor.

Black dirt

Cheryl is requesting good to great black dirt for the flower beds at Camp. We also need perennials for those beds.

Super Kids Camp

Wow amazing things are happening at Camp this week. First of all - Praise God, we have over 100 campers. The official total is 101. Kate brought 6 beautiful mirrors for cabins. They are already in use.
The cooks cabin renovation is completed with help from Augusta, Washburn, Pastor Gary, Cheryl, and Don P. - It has been nicknamed the Tahjma Hall. A chandelier with a dimmer in the entrance, it didn't seem right to call it the "Cooks Shanty" anymore.
The Lord has begun a great work last night at the alter with the kids this week. Please continue to pray for the campers, this week, and those to come.

Cook Book Fundraiser

The C.A.T. team is organizing a cookbook fundraiser for Assembly Park Bible Camp. Our goal is to collect recipes from now until September 15, 2009. We are looking for anyone willing to donate recipes for the book.

There are many ways to contribute:

You will be able to pick up a recipe form at camp or email us at apbccatteam@gmail.com. You can add your own recipes online at www.typensave.com - Contributor (you)...Login name is apbccat....password is 8ju8d

We also are looking for anyone that would like to receive a packet in the mail to hand out recipe cards at your church.

The categories we need recipes for are Appetizers and Beverages; Soups and Salads; Vegetables and Side Dishes; Main Dishes; Breads and Rolls; Desserts; Cookie and Candy; This and That (Misc.) - Recipes can be any thing you like to make from simple to complex. For now recipes are limited to two per person but as September approaches we will let you know if we need more.

Our plan is to have it ready to sell in the Spring of 2010. The tentative price will be from $8.50- $10.00 depending on how many recipes we collect. Please let others know this is taking place.

Plants needed

Now is the time of the year to plant. If anyone has perennials to share we will see that they get planted and taken care of. Be sure to consider the climate at Assembly Park Camp is in zone 3.

Osceola was at Assembly Park this past weekend to do a Father son retreat. They also helped work on our new obstacle course.

Washburn AG was also there with a large group of workers. They finished the D cabin rooms. They bought with them a boom truck and trimmed and removed dead tree limbs, assembled 20 new bunk beds and helped finish the interior of the cook's cabin.

Also Lois from Hawthorne painted the snack stand.

Spring cleaning 2009

The spring cleaning chores were underway this year. Groups of people worked cleaning cabins, and the kitchen for opening day. Those involved were from Hawthorne, Augusta, Colby, and LaCrosse. The Hawthorne WMS also sewed new curtains for under the counters in the kitchen.

Cook Cabin Renovation

A large project that began at camp this Month was the renovation of the cooks cabin. The District Women's Ministry, Augusta, and the Erickson's made donations to begin an interior remodel of a cabin known as the the "cooks shanty." Work began early in the spring with a gutting of the interior and reestablising of the original interior walls was done by a group from Hawthorne and Augusta. On Memorial Day weekend, camp supporters from Augusta, Abbostford, Mellen, and Merrill worked on painting, insulating, electral rewiring, and firring out the walls for sheet rock.
